Free Crochet Pattern! Wavy Child Hooded Sweater

Materials
I Hook
Worsted Weight Yarn, Size 4 in Brown, Tan, and Cream
Scissors

Hoodie Size
Fits a child 5 years old, 26" Body Circumference

Pattern
With Brown, chain 96,
1. Ch1, sc, *2 hdc, 2 dc, 3 tr, 2 dc, 2 hdc, 3 sc. Repeat from *.
2. Ch1, turn, sc to end. Change color.
3. Ch3, turn, tr in same st as ch, *2 dc, 2 hdc, 3 sc, 2 hdc, 2 dc, 3 tr. Repeat from *.
4. Ch 1, turn, sc to end. Change color.
Repeat Rows 1-4 until piece measures 10".

Divide for Arm Holes
Continue in pattern for 26 sts. Turn. Leave remaining sts unworked.
Continue until piece measures 5.5". FO.

Go back to unworked sts. Insert hook in 27th st and work in pattern for 44 sts. Turn. Leave remaining sts unworked. Continue until piece measures 5.5". FO.

Go back to unworked sts. Insert hook in 71st st and work in pattern for 26 sts. Continue until piece measures 5.5". FO.

Sew shoulder seams over 12 sts on each side.

Sleeves
Work in pattern for 37 sts around arm hole. Join to first st.
Work in the round in pattern for 11".

Work same for second sleeve.

Hood
Work 41 sts in pattern around the neck. Work for 14". Fold hood in half with right sides together and sew together.

  1. Thank you for sharing the pattern. Is there an edging on this sweater? Are there buttons ? If not how does it fasten in front? Getting ready to start making it, read the pattern through but don't see edging inst or buttons req. thanks!

    1. Hi! Yes, sc around entire piece after putting the hood together. You can chain 10 at neck edge while sc around to create one button loop.. or spread multiple button loops on one edge of the sweater and sew buttons on the opposite edge. Let me know how it goes!
