Hat Size: Child

Materials:
Worsted weight yarn in three (3) colors
Scissors
Plastic Needle
Size G/4.00mm Hook

Special Notes: *Chain 2 at the beginning of each round. 
*Join at the end of each round.


Hat Pattern:
1. Ch3, dc 12 in first ch. (12)
2. Dc inc. (24)
3. Dc inc, dc around. (36)
4. Dc inc, dc 2 around. (48) 
5. Dc inc, dc 3 around. (60)
6. Dc inc, dc 4 around. (72)
7-10. Ch3, dc in previous st. Skip 1 st, dc in next st, dc in skipped st - around. (72) Switch to second color.
11. Sc around. (72)
12. Ch3, dc in previous st. Skip 1 st, dc in next st, dc in skipped st - around. (72) Switch to first color.
13. Sc around. (72) Switch to second color.
14. Ch3, dc in previous st. Skip 1 st, dc in next st, dc in skipped st - around. (72) 
15. Sc around. (72) Switch to first color.
16. Dc inc, dc 2 around. 
17. Dc inc, dc 3 around.
18. Dc inc, dc 1 around. 
19-20. 1 dc in each stitch around. Change to second color.
21. SC around.
FO, weave in ends.



Flower:
With third color,
1. Ch2, 4 sc in second ch from hook.
2. (Ch2, sc in next st) around, join.
3. (Sl st to ch space, ch1, dc3, ch1, sl st in same ch space) around, join.
4. (Sc around post of sc from round 2, ch3) around, join.
5. (Sl st to ch space, ch1, dc5, ch1, sl st in same ch space) around, join.
6. (Sc around post of sc from round 4, ch3) around, join.
7. (Sl st to ch space, ch1, tr (triple crochet) 6, ch1, sl st in same ch space) around, join.
FO and weave in ends.

Leaves
With
Ch10, sc in second ch from hk, hdc2, dc2, tr, dc,hdc, sc, ch3 - sl st in 3rd ch from hk, sc in same st as previous sc, hdc, dc, tr, dc2, hdc2, sc, sl st join to first sc. FO. 


Sew back and forth in Flower center to hat with first color. Attach leaves with same color as leaves. FO, weave in ends.

  2. On the hat for rows 15-20 are we joining in the end. Also can you clarify 18-20 are we just doing one DC in each stitch?

      Yes, join at the end of each round. For row 18. *2 dc in one stitch, dc in the next.* Repeat around.
      19-20. 1 dc in each stitch.

  3. Could i just ask what size you class as child pls x.

    1. Hi! I would say about a 4 year old size.. you can always adjust the size of the hat by skipping rows 6 or 5 & 6 if you want the hat baby size... or doing another increase row (which would be row 7, by following the math pattern and doing:
      Row 7. Dc inc, dc 5 around.)

  4. Thank you Olena knowing the size i was starting with really helps, usually they are sized 1-4 yrs so would only han that need to tweak if wanted smaller or larger than that i tend to use a hook size smaller if i need 1-2 yrs and that seems to work ok.
